THE SURGERY POD

EXCITING NEW DEVELOPMENT

Self-service comes to The Red Practice, Whitefriars Surgery

The Surgery Pod is situated in the waiting room and enables you to take your own Blood Pressure and Weight and the result posts directly and instantaneously into your medical record.

This will help you to look after your own health better, and you can come in anytime - we are open to weigh yourself and take your own blood pressure.

It comprises of a touchscreen to which are connected some scales and a blood pressure meter.  You indicate your choice by touching the appropriate part of the screen – it is very easy to do.

So we can be sure to know who is using the machine, you need to begin by putting in your name and date of birth.  You are then offered a screen showing a number of different tests.  As an existing patient, the first time you use it you should choose ‘Standard Checks’ which will give you an opportunity to see what the equipment can do, and to save your GP time by checking things like your blood pressure before the appointment (when you are less stressed too) rather than take up the appointment time with checking these things.

Later, your doctor may ask you to take one of the other tests either instead of an appointment (meaning you can do it when you want to, not when we want you to), or just before your next appointment.

The Pod can also be used by new patients as part of their first appointment so it will free up more practice nurse time, to improve your care.

We hope that you will find by using it, the level of care we can give you improves further.
